Abstract

580,439. Dispensing pumps for liquids. WALLIS TIN STAMPING CO., Ltd., and HUTCHINSON, J. R. March 5, 1945, No. 5503. [Class 102 (i)] A dispensing appliance for liquids, comprises a measuring cylinder 22 one end of which is entirely open, and a hollow piston rod 31 guided to reciprocate in the cylinder and to move the piston head 34 it carries into and out of the cylinder through its open end. The bore of the piston rod communicates at one end with a delivery nozzle 39 and at the other, adjacent to the piston head, with the exterior of the rod, which is exposed to the open part of the cylinder. A spring pressed valve 41 in the bore tends normally to close the latter but yields to liquid pressure set up in the bore when the piston head moves into the cylinder to express its contents through the bore to the delivery nozzle. The piston is hand operated by a lever 44 pivoted in cheeks 46 of the rear wall of the casing 18, and having slots 45 in which slide trunnions carrying between them a cross piece which bears down on the upper end of nozzle 39.
