Abstract

701,223. Reciprocating pumps. CHURCHILL, H. W. S., and SCHOFIELD, C. S. April 22, 1952 [April 25, 1951], No. 9621/51. Class 102 (1). In an apparatus for dispensing paste &,c. the dispensing head 1 has ribs which slide in grooves in a wall bracket 20 and also carries a latch member 18 that enters an opening 19 in the wall bracket to secure the two. parts together. The latch member 18 is carried by a lever 16 pivoted on the pump piston rod 7 and pressed by a spring 23 to engage the latch. When the lever 16 is moved to make a discharge stroke, it pivots about the latch but when the piston rod is retracted, further movement of the lever causes it to pivot about the rod and disengage the latch. The pump piston is formed by a tapered head 8 of pliable material having a flexible lip 10. which controls the opening through which the paste &c. flows from the attached container 15. The pump outlet is fitted' with a rubber slit-nipple 12 acting as the pump discharge valve.
