Abstract

649,947. Syringes operated by air pressure. EXPANDITE, Ltd., and SALMON, R. G. H. April 20, 1948, No. 10910. [Class 102(ii)] Apparatus for dispensing viscous material comprises a barrel 2 containing a free piston 8 driven by compressed air and a handle 4 rotatably connected to the barrel, the air connection between air supply passages 20, 24 in the handle and barrel respectively comprising an annular groove 22 disposed in either of these parts so that the air will flow irrespective of the relative angular positions of the handle and barrel. The air enters through a pipe 18 and is controlled by a spring-loaded valve 28 operated by a trigger 6. A ball valve 48 is opened by a rod 32 to exhaust the barrel when the trigger is released. The space 12 in front of the piston may be charged with the material upon removing a cap 14 secured by a bayonet joint.
