Abstract

1504863 Spray-producers F H POOK 23 April 1975 [27 April 1974] 18523/74 Heading B2F A spray gun to spray a mixture of air and liquid or powder, comprises a cylinder 1 having inlet holes 4, a piston 14 attached to a tubular rod 11, a spray nozzle 19, an air nozzle 12 on the end of the rod, cooperating with the spray nozzle, and a supply hopper mounting 2, so that when compressed air enters inlet holes 4 the piston is forced back against spring 18 moving the air nozzle away from the spray nozzle. The air enters the tubular rod through holes 13 and passes down to the air nozzle, the resulting air jet which issues from the nozzle entraining spray material from the hopper as it passes into spray 19. A flexible bell shaped seal 8 is provided for the rod and an adjustable screw 17 acts as a stop for the piston. The apparatus shown is contained in a rotatable barrel assembly, Fig. 2 (not shown) which has a pressure gauge and a handle assembly including an actuating button controlling a valve in the compressed air supply. The valve is never completely closed allowing a weak flow of air to prevent clogging of materials in the nozzles. In a modification, the compressed air may be supplied to both sides of the piston to control both strokes instead of spring 18, the actuating button then controls a changeover valve.
