Abstract

1410365 Spray producers CIBA-GEIGY AG 28 Dec 1972 [28 Dec 1971] 59887/72 Heading B2F An aerosol dispenser comprises a piston pump 1, 2 for producing compressed air to aspirate fluid product, the piston having a compressed - air duct 14 therethrough and a valve 5 therein,- a spray nozzel 6 mounted in the piston, a product metering device 28 mounted on the piston, a reservoir 16 for the product surrounding the cylinder 1 of the piston pump, and a product flow path 27 extending from the reservoir to the metering device via a part of the piston. Metering device 28 comprises a chamber in communication with the product reservoir via apertures 28b, the chamber being refilled after use by inversion of the dispenser. The outlet from the metering device is normally closed by a flexible diaphragm 32 having a slit therein. At the end of a compression stroke valve 5 is opened by an abutment 18 on the cylinder 1 and compressed air flowing through Venturi nozzle 6 aspirates product from the metering device 28. In an alternative embodiment, Figure 4 (not shown), the product valve (41) in the metering device outlet is opened mechanically by a rod (44) on the movable valve member of the compressed-air valve 5.
