Abstract

1515892 Fluid regulation BOWLES FLUIDICS CORP 21 May 1975 [30 Sept 1974] 21884/75 Heading G3H [Also in Divisions B2 F4 and G 1] A spray head suitable for numerous applications is provided with a body member 11 in the form of a fluidic oscillator having an interior chamber 13 communicating at one end with a nozzle 12 having an opening of width W and having at the other an outlet opening 14 of width T, the head being constructed so that there is always in normal operation a positive pressure at the upstream end of the chamber relative to the outlet region 17 whereby there is no feedback of fluid to said upstream end via the control passages 21, 22 as the discharged jet is swept cyclically back and forth through the elongated outlet and is dispersed as a spray. Feedback is stated to be prevented by having the distance 0 = from 4 to 9 times the width W, T = from 1À1-1À7 the width W, and the width X of each control passage less than W. In Fig. 8a (not shown) a vibrating reed (61) at the head outlet resonates giving an indication of the desired flow-rate. Alternatively a Piezo-electric transducer (57), Fig. 9a (not shown) may be used.
