Abstract

680,553. Sails. JAMES, T. G. Sept. 22, 1950. [Oct. 11, 1949] No. 26047/49. Class 115. A double sail has a wide arcuate sectioned leading edge batten 13 pivoted to the mast head and attached to the sail parts A, B, the clews of which have outhauls 12 attached to the end of a sprit 6. This sprit has side members 7 and cross-braces 9, hinged to the mast structure by pivots 8 so that it can fold against the mast, which is revolvable. In a modification brackets are attached to the leading edge batten to carry a roller jib.
