Abstract

1,258,317. Sailing craft. H. H. SCHWEITZER and J. R. DRAKE. 28 Feb., 1969 [27 March, 1968], No. 10919/69. Headings B7B and B7V. A wind-propelled vehicle comprises an unstayed spar 12 universally jointed to the vehicle body 10 and carrying a sail 14, a pair of arcuate booms 16 extending from the spar and holding the sail taut. The body is a surfboard fitted with a daggerboard 20 the top of which carries joint 36. Wooden base 27 is wedged into hollow fibre-glass mast 12. Booms 16, 18 are secured to the mast by webbed tape and to the sail by an outhaul. The sail is manipulated by the user holding one of the booms.
