Abstract

613,752. Sailing boats. FAIREY AVIATION CO., Ltd., and VINES, A. July 1, 1946, No. 19605. [Class 115] A sailing boat has a mast made in two parts, an upper part 15 of hollow streamlined section, the after side of which is shaped to form a sail guide 31, and a lower part 17 which can be adjusted for height by a screw 23 and then locked in position by a pin 25 engaging holes 26. The two parts of the mast engage each other by a spherical seating 22a. The mainsail is raised by a winch 38 from which passes an endless cable to the sheaves 28, 29 at the mast - head. The foresail 14 is raised by the winch 58 and an endless cable 59 passing round the pulley 63.
