675,905. Endless-chain machines. EICKHOFF MASCHINENFABRIK UND EISENGRESSEREI, GEB. July 25, 1950. [Aug. 4, 1949] No. 18505/50. Class 68 (i). In the case of a jib chain cutter 1 that moves along the face on the side forms of a face conveyer 2 in order to cut out the bottom of the seam, universal joints are provided between the pick boxes and an intermediate section 7 of the jib is cranked at an obtuse angle to the parallel sections 5, 9 so that the jib has a Z-shaped form in which the vertical distance between the two parallel horizontal sections equals the height of the conveyer. The integrally formed sections 7, 8 are connected to section 5 by a hinge 6 so that, for moving purposes about the galleries, the jib can be rotated into a position parallel to the conveyer and sections 7, 8 rotated about the hinge 6 to be clear of the conveyer, being held in this position by a chain between the section 8 and the machine body 1.
