Abstract

674,930. Electromagnetic switches. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and FRIEDLANDER, E. S. July 20, 1949. [Aug. 6, 1948] No. 20841/48. Class 38 (v). [Also in Group XXXV] An electromagnetic torque producer, e.g. for operating relays &c. comprises a series of inwardly directed stator poles 4, 5, 6, 7 carrying exciting windings, and an armature capable of limited rotation having corresponding poles 11, 12, 13, 14 such that the overlaps of the co-operating pole-pairs increase or decrease together. The oppositely disposed windings are connected in series and a steady torque is obtained by feeding quadrature pole-pairs with current displaced by 90 degrees. Circuit diagrams are given showing how the device may be connected to a three-phase supply. Specification 623,908 is referred to.
