[Class 35] [Also in Group XXVI] In a mercury turbine electric' generator combination a mercury vapour turbine with rotor shaft rotatable about a substantially vertical axis and an electric generator driven thereby are enclosed in a vapour sealed housing. An enclosure 18 within the housing surrounds an alternator stator winding 20 and a permanent magnet rotor 21 mounted on the shaft 22. Electrical connections 23 to external circuits are made through the housing by vapour-tight glass seals 24. Specification 591,524 is referred to.
