Abstract

In a shuttered socket as claimed in Claim 1, 2 or 5 of the parent Specification, the socket cover g and a separate shutter a, b for each currentcarrying socket contact are formed with an interengaging recess and projection disposed between the earth socket contact and a currentcarrying socket contact. In the embodiment shown the projections f<SP>2</SP> are formed on the head of a T-shaped rib f on the cover and engage recesses k in the shutters, Fig. 5. Insertion of the earth-pin d of a plug, Fig. 6, disengages the projections and recesses by tilting the shutters against springs i whereupon the current-carrying pins of the plug may slide the shutters longitudinally against springs i to uncover the current-carrying socket contacts.
