Abstract

534,702. Two-part couplings. WARD & GOLDSTONE, Ltd., and GOLDSTONE, M. H. Sept. 14, 1939, No. 25896. [Class 38 (i)] A shutter 15 covering the live sockets and pivoted at 16 is held locked by an arm 25 engaging a shoulder 23 and released by the earthing pin engaging a bevelled surface 25a that enters a slot in the earthing socket 13. The shutter is then movec against a restoring spring by engagement of the current carrying pins with oblique surfaces 17. A shoulder 18 engages the earthing socket to act as a stop in the closed position of the shutter. The sockets are separated by raised portions of the base 10. A cover is secured by a screw entering a tapped hole in the head of the pivot screw 16. The earth pin may be flattened on a part of its periphery so that if it is turned round and then inserted in its socket it will not release the shutter. Specification 460,731 is referred to.
