Abstract

409,529. Plug couplings. ARNOLD, C. L., and M. K. ELECTRIC, Ltd., Wakefield Street, Edmonton, London. July 1, 1933, No.18741. Addition to 364,797. [Class 38 (i).] A socket member 1 having a shield that covers the live sockets 3, 5 and is moved in stages by the pins of the complementary member to uncover the sockets, has the shield constructed to move in one plane. The shield may be a T-shaped plate 11, Fig. 2, that slides in a channel on the surface of the base 1 or on the cover 1<a>. The plate is held by a spring 53 in a position for the arms of the T to cover the sockets 3, and the leg 12 partially to cover the earthing socket 7. The earthing pin engages an oblique surface 25 and slides the T into a position in which the circuit pins engage the oblique surface 26 of the arms. The plate is retained in position by a head 18 on the cover-fixing bush 16. The shield may rotate about a centre pin 62, Fig. 3, being controlled by a spring 71 and operated by pins engaging first the surface 68 and then the chamfered rim 64, 66 of the holes 65, 67 through which the circuit pins are inserted. The shield is mounted either on the body 1 or on the interior of the cover 63.
