Abstract

536,145. Two-part couplings. FERGUSON, PAILIN, Ltd., and PAILIN, G. Nov. 13, 1939, No. 29975. [Class 38 (i)] The contacts of a socket fitting are covered by a rotatable shutter h having three wings j<1>- j<3>, a bevelled portion of the wing j<1> lying over the earthing socket e<1> so that the shutter is turned by the action of the earthing pin b to bring the bevelled parts of the wings j<2>, j<3> over the respective sockets so that these sockets are still covered until engagement by the current carrying pins c completes the opening of the shutter. The return movement of the shutter is effected by a spring q housed between a spindle k and the hollow boss i of the shutter. The spindle is secured by a screw m and receives a screw p for securing the cover d. A strap n connects the spindle to the earthing socket e<1>. Specification 409,529 is referred to.
