Abstract

434,078. Plug couplings. MARR, G. E., 120, Pratt Street, Camden Town, London. Feb. 18, 1935, No. 5208. [Class 38 (i)] The live contacts 18, 18<a> of a wall socket fitting are covered when the plug is withdrawn by a plate 10 turning on a pivot 9 under the action of a spring 12, and arranged in a cavity 8 between the cover 2 and the body of the fitting. Two holes 11, 11<a >spaced to correspond with the contacts 18, 18<a> are brought into register with the contacts when the plate 10 is turned by a sliding member 14 having an oblique face 14<a> that projects into the hole 4 over the earthing-socket, so as to be pushed aside by the earthing-pin of the plug member, which is longer than the current-carrying pins. Beneath the plate 10, a sheet 15 of insulating material covers the upper face of the body of the fitting.
