Abstract

364,797. Plug couplings. ARNOLD, C. L. and M. K. ELECTRIC, Ltd., Wakefield Street, Edmonton, London. Dec. 11, 1930, No. 37410. [Class 38 (i).] The live sockets 3 are protected when not in use by an insulating shield 11 that presents a flat surface to the pins 45 but is connected to a shield located before the earthing socket 7 and having an inclined face 25 so that the earthing pin 43 on insertion moves the shield 11 to the position shown. The pins 45 then engage the inclined surfaces 38, 39 of the shield 11 and a plate 35 and pass between them into the sockets 3. This second movement of the shield 11 may be effected by the bevelled edges of apertures in the shield being directly presented to the pins 45. The movable members are pivoted to the sockets 3, 7 the plate 35 having metal fittings 37 connected to the socket to form an arcing extension, and the shield may have extensions that form tubes surrounding the sockets.
