Abstract

693,019. Two-part couplings. MARBOURN, Ltd. Jan. 24, 1952 [Feb. 2, 1951], No. 2602/51. Class 38 (i). A three-pin socket connector comprises a shutter 6 slidable in a guide in the base 1. The shutter is bevelled at 8 and has a hole 9 one wall of which is bevelled at 10. A further guide houses an apertured slide 12, which has a cam portion 15, situated over the earthing socket 4, and an extension 13 to engage a corresponding recess 11 in the shutter 6. The shutter normally lies in the position shown in Fig. 2. On inserting a plug the longer, earth. pin 16 engages the cam 15 which moves the slide against its spring 14, thus unlocking the shutter. Current pins 17, 18 then engage bevels 8, 10 of the shutter sliding it back against its spring 7 to free the socket 2 and position the hole 9 over the socket 3, the plug can then be inserted fully.
