Abstract

608,976. Two-part couplings. WALSALL CONDUITS, Ltd., and GOUGH, E. March 4, 1946, No. 6597. [Class 38 (i)] In a socket connector having a spring- controlled insulating shutter which normally prevents access to the " live " sockets, the shutter comprises a T-shaped member 20, the central limb 19 of which passes through and is guided by a slot in the bent-up extension 30 of a plate 22 secured to the base 12 by the earthing socket 21. The arms 33 of the T-shaped member normally cover the " live " sockets 13 but allow access of the plug when the plug pins engage inclined faces 34 to operate the shutter against the action of a spring 17. The plate 22 is provided with holes 24 for mounting the connector on an external support. The Provisional Specification describes an arrangement wherein the initial movement of the shutter is produced by the earthing pin of the plug.
