[Also in Group XXXVII] A switch for incorporating in hand-operated portable electrical apparatus comprises an insulating block 10 having moulded therein current pins 11, 12 and an earth pin 13. Pins 11, 12 project at both ends from the block 10, pin 11 extending directly therethrough, whilst pin 12 is interrupted at points 12c for connection to the apparatus by leads 19, inserted in holes in a part 18 which is jammed over the points 12c. The earth pin 13 is connected at 13b to an earthing plate 15. Ends 11b, 12b of the current pins are bridged by a spring tongue 16 operable by a dolly 17 or push-button. Ends 11a, 12a, 13a of the three pins are connected to the supply by a rubber socket connector 14 having a groove 14a which receives an edge 22a of a part 22 of a two-part casing of the apparatus on which the block 10 is pivoted at 21. The connection is made by pivoting the block as shown in Fig. 4, plugging on the connector 14, returning the block 10 to its normal position, and applying the other half of the casing, the engagement between the edge 22a and groove 14a ensuring that the connector cannot be withdrawn. The connector 14 has a central hole 24 for the supply wires 26 and three holes 25 for receiving the pins and into which the bared soldered wire ends 26a are bent. Alternatively, the ends 26a may be soldered to socket contacts. A plug 27 serves to secure the wires 26.
