Abstract

732,027. Two-part couplings. DAVIDSSON, T. A. Oct. 13, 1953 [Dec. 23, 1952], No. 28146/53. Class 38 (1). A shuttered socket has a pair of U-shaped sliding shutters 7, 7a, arranged in overlapping relation in a recess A at the rear of a socket cover 1. The limbs of each shutter in the closed position, Fig. 2, cover both of a pair of socket contacts, not shown, to which position the shutters are urged by springs 13, 13a. One limb of each shutter has an oblique edge 11 which, in the position shown, extends across one of a pair of elongated slots 4, 5, Fig. 1, in the cover 1. To insert a plug, the pins are placed in the outer ends of these slots and slid along them thereby sliding the shutters outwardly and uncovering the contacts whereupon the plug is pushed home. The shutters may be pivoted.
