Abstract

508,415. Two-part couplings. CRABTREE & CO., Ltd., J. A., McLOUGHLIN, H. F., and HARRISON, B. G. March 30, 1938, No. 9687. [Class 38 (i)] A pair of shutters, one covering each socket of a fitting, are held in the closed position by projections on the shutters interlocking with one another. When the plugs i<SP>1</SP> are inserted in the sockets they engage the shanks e of the shutters and so separate the interlocking heads g and then engage oblique surfaces on the part d of the shutters so as to move them against the action of springs f and uncover the sockets. The rounded edge i of the part d meets a similarly curved wall of the stop h and together with a fulcrum j guides and controls the movement of each shutter.
