Abstract

672,963. Valve gear. LANG PNEUMATIC; Ltd. July 2, 1948 [July 3, 1947], No. 17497/47. Class 122(ii) [Also in Group XXIX] In a valve of the kind having a reciprocable valve member 9 comprising a channel 11 whose longer centre line is located along the direction of reciprocation, the valve member being reciprocated under control of a rod having a projection which engages a recess 12 in the member and the rod being provided at each of its opposite ends with a piston 15 housed in a complementary cylinder 17 and being reciprocated by admission of pressure fluid first to. one cylinder and then the other, the valve member is housed within a chamber 3 formed internally of a cap or cover 4, the recess extends across the valve member at right angles to the longer centre line of the channel, the projection comprises a twopiece collar 13 clamped upon the control rod and the cylinders are secured in opposite end walls of the cover. As described the valve controls air under pressure which enters the chamber 3 by an inlet 8 and is supplied to one or other of passages 5, 7 under control of the valve member 9. When the valve opens one passage to the chamber 3 it connects the other to an exhaust passage 6 and vice versa. The control of the fluid under pressure to the cylinders 17 may be effected by a valve as described in Specification 621,021, [Group XXIX], referred to. According to the Provisional Specification the valve which controls the supply of pressure fluid to the cylinders may be adapted for actuation by a part of the machine driven by the fluid controlled by the valve member 9. Manual operation of the valve in one or both directions is referred to.
