Abstract

635,950. Pneumatic single-stroke apparatus. PETERS & CO., LTD., G. D., and SWAIN, L. W. Nov. 5, 1947, No. 29497. [Class 8(ii)] In a fluid pressure door engine which includes a differential trunk piston 11 and wherein a head 24 of a cylinder 5 carries an axially inwardly projecting hollow spigot 28 constituting the main outlet during a stroke of the piston 11 towards the head 24, such spigot 28 terminates in a sealing ring 30 with which the piston 11 co-operates during its stroke whereafter the cylinder 5 is exhausted through an adjustable cushioning valve 35. A central housing 1 mounts large and small cylinders 5, 6 in axial alignment and provides bearings for an actuating shaft 9 having a toothed quadrant 18 engaging rack teeth 17 on the differential piston 11 which is an integral casting with packing rings 20, 21 for both heads 12. 13 trunked to co-operate with sealing rings 30 on the spigots 28, 29 carried by cylinder heads 24, 25. A one-way ball valve adjustable by being lifted off its seat by a set screw stem is mounted in each head 24, 25. A platform 40 is provided on the housing 1 above the shaft 9 mounting a combined bracket and distributer 41 for an electro-pneumatic valve 32 to control the engine operation.
