Abstract

692,222. Piston packing. AUTOMOTIVE PRODUCTS CO., Ltd. Dec. 19, 1951 [Jan. 8, 1951] No. 546/51. Class 122(i) [Also in Groups XXIX and XXXIV] The packing or gasket 17 on the end of a hydraulic master cylinder piston, which is of a relatively hard resilient material e.g. "Nylon," entirely supports the non-return valve 34 which controls flow of liquid from one side of the piston to the other. As shown in Fig. 3, the valve is open allowing flow through the ports 41 in the hollow stem 36. On the pressure stroke of the piston, the head 35 of the valve seats upon the end face of the piston packing 17 and shuts off the ports 41.
