Abstract

551,086. Hydraulic brakes. CLEVELAND, F. J. (Bendix Aviation Corporation). Aug. 1, 1941, No. 9858. [A Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, June 22, 1942.] [Class 103 (i)] The piston 120 of a master cylinder has a passage 138, which is controlled by a mushroom valve 142 and leads obliquely from the centre of the front end of the piston to a position in the near end near the circumference where there is a cavity in the piston into which projects the lower end of a plug 134 provided with a passage 132 leading to the liquidsupply reservoir 116. During a compression stroke of the piston the valve 142 closes the passage 138; during the return-stroke the valve-stem 140 comes into contact with the ends of the plug 134 to unseat the valve 142 and open communication between the front of the piston and the reservoir 116.
