Abstract

544,669. Hydraulic brakes. BENDIX, Ltd., and IRVING, J. S. Nov. 27, 1940, No. 16996. [Class 103 (i)] A space l behind the piston b of the master cylinder of a hydraulic braking system is of larger diameter than the piston and communicates through a valve r with a liquid reservoir, the return of the liquid to the reservoir during the return stoke of the piston b being throttled so as to produce pressure in the space l and prevent lowering of pressure in front of the piston. The plate of the valve r, shown separately in Fig. 2, allows free outward passage of liquid from the reservoir but return of liquid can only take place through the small apertures. Specification 415,699 is referred to.
