Abstract
351,299. Fluid-pressure brakes.. HALL, F. H., Cleeve Cottage, Holford, near Bridgwater, Somerset. Aug. 9, 1930, N o. 23873. [Class 103 (i).] The master cylinder of a hydraulic brake contains a plunger comprising two parts, a piston head 6 having a passage 11 therethrough and a main plunger 7 adapted to close the passage in the piston head during the working stroke so that the two parts then move together, whereas during the return stroke the two parts separate and the passage 11 in the piston head is opened so as to place the working space 4 of the master cylinder in communication with the fluid reservoir 2 whereby fluid from the reservoir can flow into the working space 4 to maintain the latter full. During the return stroke the piston head 6 engages a stop shoulder 10, and the plunger 7 continues to move until the operating bell-crank lever 14 engages a stop 20.
