Abstract

491,150. Hydraulic transmission of power. HYDRAULIC BRAKE CO. Feb. 26, 1937, No. 5837. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1936. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXIV] A piston, e.g. a master piston of a hydraulic brake &c. system, has a cup packing 58 and a movable sleeve 66 which, towards the end of the return stroke, compresses the cup packing. The sleeve has a small clearance in the cylinder and thereby establishes communication between the two sides of the piston. At the beginning of the stroke the sleeve is held in contact with a stop 72 by a spring 78 and the packing moves with the piston clear of the sleeve. Passages 74, 56 in the sleeve and piston permit flow of liquid from one side of the piston to the other during the return stroke.
