Abstract

686,842. Apparatus for cleaning tubes, &c. AIRNESCO PRODUCTS, Ltd. Oct. 19, 1950 [Jan. 25, 1950], No. 2015/50. Class 99 (ii) [Also in Group XXIX] A valve V normally maintained by a spring S against a seat 40<SP>1</SP> in a discharge opening O formed in a detachable cap 101<SP>1</SP> is actuated to release pressure fluid in a series of blasts by a piston P reciprocated in a cylinder C of a block 106 secured within a casing A and having circumferential openings which permit the flow of fluid through a chamber B from an inlet I to the outlet O. Mechanism which controls the admission of fluid from the chamber to the cylinder may comprise a hand-controlled spring-biased ballvalve D. The seat of the valve V may be formed in a block 105 held, together with the block 106, in the casing by the cap. In modifications, a handcontrolled valve is arranged either upstream or downstream of the inlet and permits fluid to flow directly into the chamber which communicates by open ports with the cylinder. Specifications 660,565 and 660,619 are referred to. According to the Provisional Specification, wherein the cylinder is formed integrally with the casing (a) the reciprocating movement of the piston is transmitted to the valve V by a tappet lever, and (b) the valve V is directly connected to the piston and fluid passes through a side passage from the chamber B to the valve D.
