Abstract

784,684. Engine valve-gear. KAMMER, G. S. Nov. 29, 1955 [Aug. 31, 1954], No. 25311/54. Class 122 (2). [Also in Group XXIX] At each end of a stroke of a piston 11 a plunger 29 on the piston rod enters a space in a plug 6 which closes the cylinder bore. With continued motion of the piston the fluid in the space is compressed until a shoulder 31 defining the end of a reduced portion 30 of the piston rod uncovers a duct 23 and fluid passes through this duct, past a valve 26 and through a duct 22 into a cavity 18 in a valve spool 13. The valve spool is thus driven into its other end position giving the reverse stroke. Each duct 22 is formed in a plug 19 closing the valve bore and passes through an extension 20 of the plug, the end of the extension remaining inside the cavity 18 for all positions of the valve spool.
