Abstract

739,140. Stroke-adjusting means for fluid cylinders. ARNOLD, J. C. (Lester Engineering Co.). Nov. 3, 1953, No. 30386/53. Class 69 (2). The stroke of a piston 12, connected to a die plate assembly on an injection moulding machine, is limited by contact with a pistonlike end wall member 32 whose position in a cylinder containing the piston is adjustable. The end wall member is provided, with a central passage 38 communicating by means of radial bores 39 with a port 40 in the cylinder 11. The end wall member 32 is adjustable in the cylinder by a handle 29 and a screw-threaded rod 28 engaging an extension 30 of the member 32. The piston is cushioned by a tapered projection 34 on the piston engaging a corresponding recess 35 in the member 32. A pump 42 supplies fluid to a four-way valve 41 connected to ports 40, 43 in the cylinder. A reservoir 45 is provided.
