Abstract

608,814. Speed governors. EVANS, F. H. March 1, 1946, No. 6454. [Class 57] [Also in Group XXXII] A fluid-operated motor comprises a doubleacting compressed-air cylinder 12 and piston 13, a liquid-containing control-cylinder 19 and piston 21, the two pistons being operatively connected, a liquid reservoir 20 in open communication with the back end of the control cylinder, the front end of which is connected by a valve-controlled conduit 27 with the reservoir 20 and a non-return valve 23 associated with the control piston 21 to close ports 22 and open them, on the forward and return strokes' respectively. In the construction shown, the opening of the conduit 27,at the front end of.the control cylinder is disposed at a short distance from the end of the cylinder to provide additional cushioning at the end of the forward stroke. The conduit 27 is controlled by a manual valve 28 which may alternatively be remotely controlled or may be replaced by a valve, the action of which varies during the working stroke.
