357,406. Hydraulic transmission of power. LAPOINTE MACHINE TOOL CO., 34, Tower Street, Hudson, Massachusetts, U.S.A. Oct. 31, 1930, No. 32833. Convention date, Nov. 13, 1929. [Class 69 (ii).] Hydraulic mechanism for reciprocating members of broaching and other machines comprises a piston 12, Figs. 4 and 6, cylinder 14, constant discharge pumps 50, 52 of different capacities, and a valve 30 for selectively connecting either or both pumps to the cylinder to perform the working stroke; the valve is also capable of being set to a neutral position and to a position for effecting a rapid return stroke. When the valve is positioned as shown in Fig. 4, the larger pump 52 drives the piston at an intermediate speed, and the pump 50 is byepassed ; in the position of Fig. 6, the pump 50 supplies the interior of the piston rod 10 to effect the return stroke, and the pump 52 is byepassed. A reservoir 24 is connected as shown, and the cylinder is connected to a pressure-relief valve 82 opening into the reservoir.
