Abstract

478,297. Broaching-machines. TRIGGS, W. W. (Lapointe Machine Tool Co.) May 20, 1937, No. 14029. [Class 83 (iii)] [Also in Group XXIX] In a broaching-machine comprising a pair of members 10, 20, operated alternately by hydraulic motors 12, 22, one end of each of which is supplied with pressure liquid e.g. by a reversible pump P, and having their opposite ends cross connected at 33, the pressure supply pipes 30, 31 are alternately put into communication with the cross connection through pipes 34, 40 to make up leakage and to assist upward movement of the respective pistons. A check valve 41 and an adjustable needle valve 42 are provided in each of the pipes 34, 40; the pressure in the connection being determined by a relief valve 45. Each member 10, 20 at the end of its power stroke operates a bell crank lever 53 through tappets 61 or 51 to reverse the pump P. A secondary pump 77 supplies liquid to a cylinder 87 for operating tool feeding or other devices, the distributing valve 75 for the cylinder being operated at the ends of the stroke of member 10 through tappets 71, 72.
