412,787. Revolving-cylinder pumps. EISENWERK WULFEL, 4, Eichelkampstrasse, Wulfel, Hanover, Germany. Aug. 10, 1933, No. 22385. Convention date, Aug. 10, 1932. [Class 102 (i).] Pump and motor units of the radial cylinder and piston type in an apparatus for the hydraulic transmission of power have cylinders b, Figs. 1, 2. which are accessible at their outer ends to the working liquid and pistons which are held in contact with a rotatable eccentric polygonal member c, between which and the pistons there is no positive connection, by the pressure of the working liquid ; further, the member c in the case of one unit, preferably the pump unit, is capable of radial adjustment to vary the stroke of the associated pistons. In the form shown, the units rotate in bearings f, g, h, in the housing n and communicate by ducts o, p ; further, in each unit, each cylinder is provided with a passage l connecting its outer end with a distributing valve in the form of a ported sleeve m. The members c are each constituted by a sleeve with an odd number of faces, and are mounted upon pins d; and in the case of the pump unit, the pin is mounted in a slide i displaceable radially by a screw adjustment k. In each case, the piston-face in contact with its respective member c is recessed and provided with an aperture. A pump q on the pumpshaft communicates with the duct p and also with a reservoir v by pipes s, u, which are respectively provided with a one-way valve and a relief-valve ; by this means leakage is replenished and the effect of centrifugal force on the pistons is counteracted.
