Abstract
1,125,722. Hydrostatic transmissions. SUNDSTRAND CORP. 9 Sept., 1965 [24 Sept., 1964], No. 38630/65. Heading F2C. [Also in Divisions B3 and F1] A flat metal bearing plate or a metal bearing sleeve is bonded to a steel cylinder of a reciprocating piston hydraulic pump or motor unit by diffusion of the bearing metal across the interface into the steel. Two cylinder blocks 10 with bonded sleeves 30 and bearing plates 33 are employed in an hydraulic transmission comprising an axial piston pump 81 in back to back relation with an axial piston motor 82. A gear 86 driven by a prime mover drives a shaft 87 splined to the cylinder blocks and mounted in bearings 89, 90 and a stationary cam 95 with an inclined surface 96 reciprocates the pistons in the pump 81 which discharges fluid through a valve member 102 to drive the pistons in the motor 82 which rotates the shaft 104. The shaft 104 is similarly mounted in bearings and carries an output gear 105. Bores 21 in the blocks permit escape of leakage fluid from between the cylinder blocks and valve member.
