Abstract

1355325 Reciprocating pumps and motors AISIN SEIKI K K 22 Dec 1972 [27 Dec 1971] 59439/72 Heading F1A [Also in Division F2] In a swash-plate pump or motor comprising a rotary cylinder block 27, the pistons 31 engage a swash-plate 41 through light-weight slippers 34 formed of a high tensile strength aluminium alloy, titanium or a titanium alloy and having a swashplate contacting surface comprising a layer of a high load-bearing alloy, e.g. an alloy of aluminium and silicon, phosphor bronze or high load phosphor bronze. The layer may be a porous layer of sintered alloy powder. The slipper surface may be grit blasted and coated with molybdenum before applying the alloy layer, or may be zinc-coated before plating with alloy. The layer may be friction-welded to the slipper. The piston-engaging bearing surface of the slipper may also have a layer of high load-bearing alloy. The swash-plate contacting face of the slipper has a recess connected via throttle 57 and piston passage 56 to the working chamber 32 for lubrication and hydrostatic balancing of the slipper.
