Abstract
1482964 Reciprocating pumps and motors ABEX CORP 20 Sept 1974 [31 Jan 1974] 41178/74 Heading F1A In a hydraulic pump or motor comprising a rotary cylinder block 16 with axial pistons 29 engaging a swash-plate 31 via slippers 30, the swashplate 31 is supported on a cam member 37 pivotable slidably on a support 50 to adjust the piston stroke, the support-engaging face 59 of the cam member being formed with pockets (71), Fig. 3 (not shown), supplied with pressurized working liquid from the working cylinders 28 via piston and slipper passages 61, 62, slipper hydrostatic bearing recess 63, swash-plate passage 65 and throttle groove 66, cam member arcuate ports 67 and passages 70, each port 67 and pocket (71) corresponding with the high- and low-pressure sides of the pump or motor, so that the pocket on the side of the cam member subjected to high piston loads is supplied with high pressure liquid to balance the load on the support 50, and facilitate tilting of cam member 37. The number of swash-plate passages 65 is different from the number of slippers or a multiple thereof, and may be such that the distance between the outside edges of adjacent apertures is less than the width of a slipper, Fig. 7 (not shown), to reduce pressure loss from the pockets. Tilting of cam member 37 is effected by piston 55 acting via arm 52.
