Abstract

1312843 Crossheads MASCHINENFABRIK BURCKHARDT AG 26 June 1970 [4 July 1969] 31180/70 Heading F2T A compressor or pump comprises first and second opposed pistons or plungers 13, 13<SP>1</SP> driven by a crosshead which is formed by a lower part 2 provided with main and secondary sliding shoes 3, 4, an upper part 1 releasably connected to the lower part and a crosshead pin member 5 arranged between the lower and upper parts in the region of the main shoe and releasably connected, as by a coupling 14, to the first piston. The crosshead is driven along guideways 22 by a crank-pin 18 and connecting-rod 16 having a forked end for attachment to the pin block 5; alternatively two connecting-rods may be provided one each side of the pin block. The second piston 13<SP>1</SP> is releasably connected to a plain block 8 by a coupling 14<SP>1</SP>; if desired, the plain block 8 may be omitted and the upper part 1 mounted directly on the lower part 2. Long bolts 10 hold the parts of the crosshead together.
