Abstract

1368531 Reciprocating pumps and motors C PENSA 21 March 1972 [23 March 1971] 13051/72 Heading F1A In a swash-plate pump or motor comprising a rotary cylinder block 7 with pistons 11 engaging a fixed or tiltable swash-plate 13, the block 7 is coupled to the drive-shaft 3 by cylindrical splines 6a engaging conical splines 6 on the shaft, permitting bending of the shaft without tilting the block, a spring or springs 24 acting against the block to bias piston slippers 12 on to the swashplate 13, via part-spherical member 19 and plate 25, and a spring 27 acting between the block and a valve plate 18, via thrust bearing 29 to reduce the force of springs 24 acting to bias the block towards the valve plate. The force of spring 27 may be 40% less than that of springs 24. A cylinder containing a spring- loaded piston communicates with each land between the valve plate ports to prevent concussion, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). The cylinders may have anti-friction liners 10.
