Class 64(iii) Heat-exchanger tubes 5, provided with transverse or helical fins 14 are each supported by a hollow box-like structure which surrounds the tube and supports it at two spaced points along its longitudinal axis. The box-structure, which may be of sheet metal, is preferably made in two sections, Fig. 3, the end walls 16 of each section being in frictional engagement with the fins 14 and being provided with cut-away portions 17 which fit over the tube in supporting engagement therewith. When assembled on a bundle of tubes, the box-structure supports rest firmly against one another, Fig. 2, and are supported as a unit between spaced angle bars 20, 21, lateral movement being prevented by the provision of end stops such as plates 26 and blocks 27, 28. The boxstructure supports may be square in crosssection (as shown), or they may be hexagonal. The headers between which the tubes 5 extend are reduced at their end portions to fit inside channel members 3, 4 which extend between the headers and are welded thereto to form a rigid frame structure.
