482,143. Walls for furnaces &c. STRAND, T. A. R., BLOMQUIST, U. 0., and ALBIHN, H. F. Oct. 12, 1936, No. 27671. Convention date, Oct. 16, 1935. [Class 51 (i)] A wall for furnaces or other heating apparatus comprising tubes 3 connected to headers 1, 2 has the intermediate spaces between the tubes filled entirely or in part by one or more parallel tubular members 4 of smaller diameter than the tubes 3 and connected at both their ends to the tubes 3. One or a number of such tubular members 4 may be arranged on one side or on opposite sides of a tube 3. The tube members 4 are connected to the tubes 3 by welding throughout the whole or part of their length. Where fins are provided on the tubes 3 the tubular members 4 are disposed in front of the fins to protect them against direct heat radiation.
