Abstract

1,193,619. Plate heat exchangers. ASSOCIATED ENG. Ltd. 19 Sept., 1967 [3 Oct., 1966], No. 44131/66. Addition to 1,116,621. Heading F4S. The heat exchanger which forms the subjectmatter of Specification 1,116,621 and described with reference to Figs. 1, 2a, 2b of that Specification is modified in that the free end of each fin 3 of each tube 1 is bonded to the adjacent tube and in that the components of the heat exchanger may be bonded together by electron beam, plasma arc or laser beam welding. In addition, the fins 3 may be hollow at their outer ends and be dimpled. The tubes 1 which are bonded in apertures in tube plates 6 have end fins 3 bonded to the plates, and strips 9 with fins 3a are secured to both core end plates 7.
