Abstract

902,011. Tubular heat exchange elements. GREEN & CO. Ltd., E. Sept. 8, 1958 [March 6, 1958; April 9, 1958], Nos. 7259/58. Class 64 (3). Gills 6 for a heat exchanger tube 1 comprise two halves, each of which extends substantially half way round the tube to which they are secured by resistance welding except at their extremities 7, whereby effective welding is ensured. Two strips of metal 5 are welded longitudinally of the tube so that each of the gills may be welded thereto. The strips may be replaced by gills shaped as shown in Fig. 4 when the bridge-pieces 9 of both halves are welded together or as shown in Fig. 7 when a longitudinal strip is interposed between the halves. A heat exchanger comprising a number of gilled tubes in sinuous form is described.
