704,685. Making heat-exchangers. UNILEVER, Ltd. May 9, 1952 [May 11, 1951], No. 11159/51. Class 83 (2). [Also in Group XIII] A flat coil of tubing. e.g. for a heat-exchanger; comprises two spirals each consisting of one or more lengths of tubing-arranged with the turns 2 of one spiral occupying substantially the whole of the space between the turns 5 of the other, the inner ends of the two spirals being joined at the centre of the coil. In the form shown, the coil is made of two lengths of steel tubing of rectangular cross-section welded together at the centre of the coil. During assembly, the inner ends of the two spirals may be bent up, joined together, and then bent back to be flat with the rest of the coil. In a modification the two inner ends are joined by tubing of larger diameter, to fill the central space. Two such coils, connected in parallel, may be arranged side by side in the same plane. The coil may be enclosed between two flat plates.
