Abstract
835,487. Tubular heat exchange elements. HUET, A. Nov. 20, 1957 [Nov. 21, 1956; July 5, 1957], No. 36201/57. Class 64(3) In a heat exchanger tube d having external fins a in the form of helically coiled or corrugated wire elements bonded to the tube, the elements are so disposed as to produce a progressive change in the efficiency of heat transfer along the length of the tube. By this arrangement it is stated the rate of heat transfer along the length of the tube may be kept substantially uniform or may be caused to vary in predetermined manner. The fins may extend longitudinally of the tube and in this form may comprise a sinuously bent wire (Fig. 2) or a flattened wire coil (Figs. 3 and 4). The fins may alternatively comprise a wire coil disposed around the tube d helically and with a progressively changing pitch as shown in Fig. 5.
