Class 64(3) A housing containing a bundle of parallel heat exchange tubes k comprises a pair of end rings a, one or more coaxial intermediate rings d, a plurality of longitudinally extending ribs in the form of bars e interconnecting the rings, and a sheet metal shell c surrounding the intermediate rings and ribs and connected to the end rings. In the form shown the rings and bars are suitably notched so that they interengage (see Fig. 5), the end rings a being welded to the shell c. The tubes k extend between tube plates m and transverse baffles n are mounted in the tubes. The outer peripheries of the baffles are supported on the inner edges of the ribs in a manner which enables the tube assembly to be slidable into and out of the housing when required.
