Abstract

1,272,578. Tubular heat exchangers. C. A. PARSONS & CO. Ltd. 5 May, 1969 [3 May, 1968], No. 21089/68. Heading F4S. A boiler feed water heater or steam reheater includes a casing (4, Fig. 1) containing tubes 1 or 1a, and at least two headers 2, each header comprising a single extruded member or bored forging and having a flat elongate surface 2a to which the tube ends are attached. The header may be subdivided transversely by one or more welded or otherwise secured partition walls. Access holes 8, Fig. 2a, each closable by a plate 9 may be provided in the header wall. The holes may be in a side wall of the header instead of as shown. The headers may extend through the casing wall so as to be self supporting (Fig. 1c) or they may be supported by tubular bars (6, Fig. 1b) which extend through the casing wall.
